It’s 7:30am EST….do you know where your Muse is?

It is 7:30 on a Saturday, my husband is sleeping, and my little cubs are sleeping, too. The sun is shining, the birds are singing, and the smell of coffee is creeping in from the apartment across the hall. In other words, it is time for me and the Muse to get to work.

What are you and your muse up to?

Camp Nano is coming up in April, and I’m going to be a rebel for this session and the July session. Instead of actually writing a novel, I’m going to use April 1 through August 1 to do some series planning, character development and world building using the Holly Lisle How to Think Sideways and How to Write a Series methods (with modifications, clearly). Holly isn’t perfect, but I like her style, and I like how a lot of her planning methods give with my own. So I’m going to dedicate some serious time to planning, developing and outlining, so that way I can really get writing in the fall. The start date for writing the first book in the series will be September 9th, 2013. I’m going to be a fool and say that I’d like the first draft to be complete by December 1, 2013, but we all know that that is a foolish goal. We’ll be doing a long, hard assessment of progress on December 1.

But in the mean time, among the other things I have going on today, Saturdays are “Short Story Saturdays” for me. 3 page quickies to help me work on tightening my arch progression. I really, really enjoy the exercises. I’ll be working on this today and posting a excerpt tonight. I look forward to sharing.

It is time to carpe diem, readers and writers! Let’s create something today!
